Training of national judges in EC Competition Law
As you may have seen the European Commission has issued a call for proposals for the delivery of EC competition law training for judges. The European Commission is offering grants to non-profit organisations to provide such training. This may be something that the SCLF would be interested in applying for - either jointly with the Judicial Studies Committee (no formal approach has been made yet) or on its own.
This could provide a good opportunity not only to raise the profile of SCLF but also to ensure that our judges have an enhanced understanding of competition law.
We would be grateful if SCLF members could let us know their views on this proposal. If there are no strong objections to running such training, a small organising committee will be set up. If you would interested in being part of this please contact Dawn Hendry (dawn.hendry@shepwedd.co.uk).
